DeBellis still a Sussex County hitter – Daily Record

Sussex County manager Bobby Johnson had introduced DeBellis towards the Boulders as they was the manager there last summer time, after he went undrafted from Lynn College. Johnson, who#8217;d coached DeBellis and Miners righty reliever Michael Suk using the South Bergen Mets while both were in senior high school, have been #8220;looking to get him in the future here beside me.Inch The Miners sent catcher Elvin Soto and also the legal rights to former reliever Tony Amezqua to Rockland in return for DeBellis, pitcher Jarret Martin, and outfielder Mike Schwartz. The Miners worked Schwartz, a Montville resident, to Nj for infielder Dustin Lawley inside a separate deal.

DeBellis batted .532 with four home runs and 35 RBI in the senior season, and hang the Sussex record with 165 hits over his senior high school career.

#8220;He#8217;s a very hard-nosed kid,#8221; Johnson stated of DeBellis. #8220;He#8217;s an excellent baseball IQ. I love the way in which he goes about his business.#8221;

#8220;I truly did not possess a clue (what pro ball was like) entering this past year, mainly in the Can-Am League, driving to Canada almost every other weekend,#8221; stated DeBellis, who#8217;s remaining with George Freeland, the grandfather of his former Pope John teammate, Matt Tietz.

Schwartz has since managed to move on to Trois-Rivieres, another Can-Am team.
