Last chance for Hertfordshire residents to see the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight – Hertfordshire Mercury

There is no particular direction you should gaze towards as they could appear in any direction #8211; your best bet is to make sure you look for as long as possible.

The best time to catch the shooting stars is from midnight through until dawn although it is suggested that 1am may be the peak time to head out with your blankets and pillows.

The Met Office say you may even be able to make out the faint Milky Way band stretching across the sky if you#8217;re in a spot that is dark enough.

The Met Office recommend finding a spot in complete darkness, away from any bright lights.
