Parramatta’s famous Cumberland Oval set to rise from the ashes – Sporting News

The plan includes a new pavilion, dressing rooms, gym and upgraded playing arena.

The Eels used Granville Park as a training base in the 1980s and could return if the proposal is green-lighted by Cumberland Council.

Currently home to the Parramatta Rugby Club – where Eels legend Ray Price started – the ground has been earmarked for a $9m upgrade.

“We see ourselves as representatives of Western Sydney. We don’t want people looking down at us. We want to break the stereotypes.”
