The first phase this Sunday will involve the closure of Lancaster Park Road at its junction with Wetherby Road so access to the hospital and residences will be via the Knaresborough Road entrance
County Cllrs John Mann and Richard Cooper who represent Harrogate Central division expressed satisfaction that efforts would be made to minimise disruption. “Resurfacing is essential if our roads are to be maintained to a good standard, “ said Cllr Mann, “and we are reassured that every effort will be made to maintain access for hospital traffic and minimise inconvenience for local residents and the travelling public.”
Phase two will involve the closure of the middle section of Lancaster Park Road, so access to the hospital will be maintained at the Knaresborough Road entrance of Lancaster Park Road
To keep disruption to a minimum, the work will be completed in three phases. The first is planned to start on Sunday, 15 October and will be followed on two further Sundays, October 22 and October 29.
The road closure and work on each phase will be carried out between 8am and 6pm. There will be full access to and from Harrogate District Hospital and the Aamp;E Department. The signs along the A661 and the A59 will be amended to suit each phase of the work.
North Yorkshire County Council is to carry out resurfacing work on Lancaster Park Road, between the junctions of the A661 Wetherby Road/Lancaster Park Road and the A59 Knaresborough Road and Lancaster Park Road.
