Somerset Patriots Year In Review: Mark Minicozzi – MyCentralJersey.com

The 34-year-old had hinted at retirement, so it#8217;s possible that may have also ended his playing career as well.

Mark Minicozzi was one of the more affable members of last year#8217;s Patriots team, but his year and perhaps playing career ended in extremely disappointing fashion with a end-of-the-season suspension that kept him off of the playoff roster.

#8220;Cozzi#8221; was Somerset#8217;s regular third baseman for a time during the year, while also seeing significant action at first base as well.  He hit .239 with eight homers and 36 RBI in 68 games, but was suspended by the Atlantic League for an incident in which he bumped an umpire in the last regular season series of the year, which effectively ended his season.
