Staffs have 17 overs remaining of their 90-over allocation as they hunt for quick runs in the latter stages of their innings.

Staffordshire continued to make good progress in the afternoon session on the opening day of their Unicorns Championship game against Cambridgeshire.

The Porthill Park opener, who marked his debut for the county with a ton against Hertfordshire, was trapped lbw by seamer Sam Rippington.

Tim Maxfield was caught and bowled by spinner Bruce soon after, but Peter Wilshaw and Michael Hill continued to keep Staffs heading towards a competitive score.

Wilshaw reached the interval on 47 not out, with Hill unbeaten on 14.
